During the ride, we will be doing 3 promotions each day:

  • "Morning Mingle" live Facebook video.  These will be each morning, Monday through Saturday, starting generally between around 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM, maximum of 3 minutes.  The goal will be to interview a local person of interest (e.g. Mayor, transportation official, etc.) that will share something of general interest about wherever we are.  We will also ask press to be at these so we can explain what we are trying to accomplish.  This will be a soft donation ask.
  • Each day, Monday through Saturday, at Noon local time a 1 Minute "Live from the Road" video.  Meant to allow our followers to see us in progress.
  • Each Evening at 8 PM, Monday through Sunday, the team will have a quick Day wrap-up Live Video going over anything of interest, and the time for the "Morning" next morning.  Ideally it will end up being done with local people we are socializing with.

Each of these will have promotions for the Sponsors at the beginning and ending.

A link to a draft day-by-day course is below this section. The overall course is meant to minimize elevation changes (only 19 miles elevation gain over 4,166 miles distance). So going from San Diego east to Western Texas along I-8/10/20, then shooting up towards Cleveland, ending up along I-90 and then Maine. 71 segments over 83 days.

The toughest parts will be getting over the San Diego mountains and the Green Mountains in Vermont, along with the slow but steady climb from Eastern Arizona to Western Texas.  Other than that, relatively flat. See the link for a detailed course overview.

3 Country Ride

SpotLink is graciously sponsoring a van for the ride.  So the plan is to have a chase van all the way across the county.  Not only will this make the ride safer (riding behind us warning of "bikers ahead"), it will also allow us to get and take provisions along the way without having to carry them on our bikes.
